Volunteers

The Club is a volunteer organization and members are required to do duties on Safety / Start boats and will be rostered to do so two or more times per season. Details of the roster for the Spring Series of the 2018-19 Club Racing season are at the link below. More volunteers are still required to fill the roster! Rostered skippers who do duty on a day they would have raced will be scored equal to the average of their best three races for that series.

Safety Boat duties include:

  • Preparing the power boats for launching
  • Course setting
  • Monitoring the safety of competitors and assisting should the need arise.
  • Being on the water and checking wind direction at least one hour prior to the scheduled start of racing.
  • Retrieval and cleaning of the boat as required at the end of the day.
  • Informing the Rear Commodore of any maintenance required on the boats.

Start Boat duties are detailed at the link below. They include:

  • Ensuring the boat is fueled and ready to go to the start line one hour prior to the scheduled start of racing.
  • Starting and timekeeping of all competitors entered in the races.
  • Monitoring competitors and advising Safety boats when assistance is required.
  • Ensuring that the boat is correctly moored at the end of the day.
  • Informing the Rear Commodore of any maintenance required on the boat.
Volunteers are also necessary for these duties during regattas. Remember it is your Club and its success depends on your input!
